The Power Of Kindness As we embark on a call to action in the name of PACT’s One Village Care Initiative, I ask you this question: Is the power of kindness on its own, good enough to meet the social challenges of our community today? Certainly without kindness, helping others would not be possible. It definitely makes us feel great when we can act unconditionally as humans; we are after all, genetically coded to be kind and cooperative. So the answer is undoubtedly yes, every act of kindness definitely helps.
The answer is also no. Just because we decide to be kind and get involved, it doesn't necessarily mean we're doing all that we can for a better tomorrow. The fact is, supporting the least efficient social delivery models in our community actually inhibits our contributions ability to achieve maximum impact.
Everywhere you look in urban communities today, the gap between the needs and our collective ability to meet these needs is growing. One obvious way to close the social needs gap is to find and support the most efficient and effective local delivery models available.
Often times, we have overlapping programs that are not effective in providing a sustainable model for social change in our communities. There can be a tremendous difference between social programs that are well balanced, and programs that are not balanced in addressing the long-term needs of a particular community.
The vision for PACT’s One Village Care Initiative is to help create and support, the most innovative and effective social delivery programs that work best for the community it stands to serve. Only by supporting the best social delivery programs within our community, can we leverage the exponential power of our collective kindness.
PACT’s One Village Care Initiative provides community members the ability to be heard, and discuss the right solutions for South Etobicoke. Only by seeking to unconditionally help build and support the delivery programs that are most effective in bringing social change to our communities, can we help produce a cycle of empowered and socially integrated individuals and families.
Let the Power of One become the Power of Many. Sincerely
